We will absolutely be booking this property again! The host was responsive. We have 5 kids between 5 and 15. The private access to the beach was so great, it made things so easy for the kids and not having to load everything and drive to a public access. There is a HUGE amount of sand toys, beach chairs and umbrellas available for you to use. It saved so much room packing. The house was very clean, parking was right in front of the front door of the unit. The only thing I would suggest, is to put a taller tabletop and chairs off of the master balcony. When you sit, the railing blocks your view. We had a great stay!

This is the second time I have stayed at Sticks in the Sand. Only suggestion I have is the bed in the master bedroom should be considered for replacement. Other than that everything went well and stay was very relaxing and enjoyable.

My family and I had a wonderful time at this location! While it may not be a contemporary and immaculate spot, it exudes a charming seaside atmosphere. The greatest aspect of the location is its proximity to the beach, as well as its convenient location near coffee shops and restaurants. Communication was spot on and could not have asked for a better place at the price!

We have visited this property before and we will again. The place is always clean and right on the beach. Parking is tight in front of the building but that’s everywhere in the area. If you want a spot on the beach where you don’t have to fight the crowds on the beach this is the place to go to.

This condo was in a great location, a beautiful view of the Gulf, and was perfect for our family! We had no trouble with check in, or with checkout, and everything went well the entire week we were there. Definitely will rent this place again!

We loved our second stay. Love the location on the beach. Ate at Whales Tale for lunch twice, a short stroll on the beach. The only downfall was the master bed is in need of replacement.

This property was better than the pictures show. Super roomy and right on the beach. It’s also great to have a private beach so you’re not competing for space. We definitely will be booking again!

We only stayed for one night. With that said, we would definitely stay there again. It did appear to be an older property, but for the price compared to nearby rentals it was great. The place was clean and appeared well maintained. Communication was good, timely and concise. Proximity to the ocean couldn't get much better. Convenience store was across the street for those like myself who always forget something. We were in the upper unit which could be challenging for some. I will definitely check with sticks in the sand for a prospective rental next visit.

Everything went perfectly. We loved the ease of getting straight to the beach and the location can’t be beat. There was a couple items that needed attention but it didn’t take away from our time there. One step on the deck going to the beach was broken and the tv in the master bedroom would not connect to the cable/satellite. Do not take this as complaining as we just worked around this and never even asked for the issues to be addressed. We had a great time and would recommend this to everyone.

Thanks for staying at Sticks In The Sand and the review! Next time please call maint.and we can correct the Issues. The TV for instance has a booster and if the maids or guest unplug them then it does not render. Quick fix if you just let us know! Same for the step. This close to the ocean everything rust including the screws holding the steps. Again Quick Fix if we know about it. Look forward to seeing you again at Sticks In The Sand

We enjoyed staying here, my husband and two small boys (5 & 3). The previous reviews were helpful and we are glad we chose the upstairs rental. The ocean view from the shared balcony and the master balcony were phenomenal! We saw dolphins the first morning! The owner and maintenance were very responsive when we first arrived and had questions, nothing worth noting as it was patience on our part. We stayed 5 nights so most of the house was utilized. The washer and dryer in the master was so convenient and worked without hiccups. Fridge, stovetop, oven and dishwasher all operated and were useful during our stay. It was nice having 3 bathrooms and we had plenty of beds (although we only used 2). The beach area just outside was perfect and not crowded at all! We put our umbrella out each morning and it wasnt messed with if we left and went into town. Thank you for the excellent stay!

Great property. We stayed here for a month and absolutely loved it. Breakfast on the deck, ocean front, every morning was wonderful. For the mornings we didn't feel like cooking the Whales Tail is a 5 min walk down the beach with indoor or outdoor seating. Waking up to the ocean every morning was very relaxing, you can see the waves from your bed. The property was clean and well maintained. We only had one issue while staying here which was quickly taken care of by the owner. We called and 15mins later there was a knock at the door to fix the problem, impressive. We have rented from this owner in the past and definately will do so again in the future. He is easy to deal with and responds quickly. The grocery store is within walking distance as well as many places to eat. We love this area and can't wait to return.

I loved everything about this house. Most of all the bedroom had a large sliding glass door where I got to go to bed seeing the stars at night and wake up with the ocean in the morning. It was truly the best! The beach was super close and I loved that it was PRIVATE!!!! Would love to go back again! Thank you so much!

We really wanted a place that was small and not a high rise, on the beach and a short walk to the water, with no elevator and be able to park at the door, this place filled all of our wants and needs!. It does have stairs but we did not mind. We had 3 woman 56-60-67 and the bedrooms being on the top floor were great because not everyone wanted to get up early! The walk to the water was so short that all we took were our chairs and umbrella because we could go get drinks and snacks easily! The shower on the bottom deck was awesome for rinsing off the salt and sand. The beach items that the previous guest left are great so you don't have to bring with you any, chairs, buggy boards, floats, shovels, buckets, fish nets, and they even had a 10x10 tent! We only left one time and went to the Winn Dixie, we ate at the Whale's Tail every night, which was a very short walk on the beach, the food was awesome and not too pricey with large portions.. we loved everything we ordered...Grilled Grouper, Grilled Shrimp, Shrimp Fajita, Blackened Mahi Sandwich, and a Hamburger! We went from September 7 thru September 11 and the water was warm and clear I only saw 1 jelly fish and there was no seaweed...it was like a swimming pool! The beach was not crowded and we had lots of privacy. We will be back!! We may have to bring the husbands next time!

We could not have asked for a better place to stay! We were right on the beach and the fact that the beach was private property guaranteed that we had our choice of places to set up our umbrella and chairs. Within walking distance to a gas station and ice cream. Centrally located and easy access to all that Mirimar Beach and Destin have to offer! So happy with this property and our stay!

My wife and I have been to the Destin, Panama City area many times over the years and this is the best we have ever been to as far as the view and accommodations are concerned. The owners are very nice and live on the property so any issues can be taken care of quickly. Our ice maker was on the blink and it was replaced within two hours. The unit was very clean when we arrived and the furnishings are modern and up to date. It is located near shopping, restaurants, and other activities. We will definitely be back soon.

What more could you ask for. From my balconies I could see the sunrise and the sunset. A few steps out the door and I was right on the ocean where I walked the beach for miles. Stores are close by, some within walking distance! The condo was perfect. Spacious and comfortable. It has everything I needed. The Slatton's are wonderful hosts! I will definitely stay here again.

I loved that it was right on the beach, you didn't have to leave to go to a beach. It was great that beach chairs were provide to use to sit at the beach. We stayed in October and it was perfect weather. The town house was clean and just the right size.

This is our 3rd year at Sticks in the Sand. We changed from a July vacation to a September vacation and found it to be better for our family since we didn't have any small children this year. James and Shari are always very responsive to any issues that might occur. We would not consider staying anywhere else! Am awaiting next year's beach vacation!

The location of Sticks in the Sand is impossible to beat. You go out the backdoor and you are on the beach with private beach access. The condo itself is as advertised. For the price it is a really great stay. There's a few things here and there that could be fixed up, but if the goal of your stay is to stay inside a condo, you might as well get a condo further from the beach. This place is for beach lovers! I had two small kids with me and couldn't have asked for a better vacation. There are plenty of lawn chairs and pool toys in the storage shed. If you forget anything, there are tons of amenities within walking distance. We had bikes dropped off (with a trailer) so once we got to the condo, we literally never drove anywhere. We even road our bikes to golf one day. We will be back!

The Bug Shack was fantastic. I took my family for boating, fishing, snorkeling, and relaxation. The house has everything we needed to enjoy our time. We enjoyed cooking our catch fresh off the boat. The pool was great for the kids. What a beautiful place to be. We will definitely be back to the Bug Shack. Maybe we will be lucky enough to catch some lobsters next time!

We were very pleased with our stay. This was our first stay at "Sticks in the Sand" and we were not disappointed. Everything was just like it said it would be when we rented. I didn't know if I would like the washer/dryer in the main bedroom but I loved it! It was so convenient. The access and view to the beach was worth it all. Great place to stay.

Shari & James are great to work with; the convenience store is right across the street and the beach is at your back door. The Bug Shack was exactly as advertised. The house was very clean, nicely decorated and well maintained. There weren’t any surprises. The rental company was very easy to deal with before the trip and after the trip they returned my deposit within one week of departure. The staff of Venture Out was very nice and super helpful. My children absolutely loved the pool and the game room. Cudjoe Key is an ideal location; it’s only 5 miles from Big Pine Key, where you will find the Winn Dixie and 25 miles from all the activities of Key West. We highly recommend snorkeling off of Key Looe, Sunday brunch at Blue Heaven (expect a wait but it’s worth it) and the wild life sanctuary at Big Pine Key. Even though I don’t have any complaints about the house or the location, I do have a few recommendations though: 1. The master bedroom needs a lock on the door 2. They need a 2nd TV in the master bedroom 3. The house needs a couple of laundry baskets; I hated having my dirty clothes lying in the corners of the house. We loved the house, the location, the staff and amenities of Venture Out, I highly recommend it. Thank you so much for allowing us to vacation there

We rented this 2 bedroom stilt house without seeing the interior, and were pleased when we did see the inside. Two comfortable bedrooms, 2 nice baths, a very comfortable living room and a fully equiped kitchen, and WI-FI. And a grill! The porch is great for morning coffee, and there is a canal-side patio with both sun- and shade-areas. The views from the porch and patio are very nice--canal, open water, and a bit of Cudjoe Key. A manatee swam by one morning. We loved feeding shrimp shells to the fish in the canal. Many MANY activities to get you involved--we'll take more advantage of those next year. Swimming and snorkeling at Bahia Honda State Park, hiking the walkways, swimming in the wonderful pool in the park (I wanted to bring the pool home, but couldn't get it in the car...) Lunches and dinners are delicious at Square Grouper, and brunch at Mangrove Mama's. We went to Key West for a day trip. Next year, we want to try Hogfish Grill--we ran out of time this year!! We didn't plan to return to this location--until we had been there 2 days. Then we booked for a whole month for 2015! In all-comfortable house, great location, very nice amenities!

We always try to go to Destin in October. We arrived at the townhouse and after unloading and inspecting it realized we only had to bring clothes and food. This IS the very 1st vacation that the kitchen had EVERYTHING to cook ANYthing and for ME that was a HUGE plus. We did eat out most everyday, but having a fully stocked kitchen is my make or break dealmaker. The townhouse itself was furnished very nice and of course LOVED being right on the beach. I always pack for every situation and had I known would have just brought a small suitcase with my clothes and shampoo. The owner was/is very, very nice and was very accommodating. If you want on the beach in a very nice neighborhood and surroundings this is the townhouse to rent. I could have stayed another week. Can not say enough about how much fun we had and how nice it was to stay here.

Sticks in the Sand II is great! Unfortunately I was scheduled to arrive as Hurricane Isaac made landfall west of Destin. I debated for several days about going on my scheduled date or to delay, Shari and James were so helpful and wonderful about keeping in touch with me. When I arrived two days later I was so happy with the accommodations. The pictures are nice, but it's actually much nicer in person and very, very well stocked. I travel to Destin 4 or 5 times a year and this is the 4th town home I've stayed in and it is my favorite! As long as you are comfortable going up and down stairs, you will not be disappointed by this home.

We loved this condo! It was all updated with nice tile floors, flat screen tvs in den and both bedrooms, granite, nice appliances and great storage! We loved be so close to the Whales Tail to go down for a morning breakfast or midday cocktail and tuna dip! Also it was so convenient being right across the street from a Circle K to run over for drinks and ice! Their storage unit down on the beach level was so nice and organized with chairs, coolers, sand toys etc. The beach was not crowded! This is by far tops on our list of favorite condos in the Destin area. We have been coming here for over 30 years. Thanks Sticks in the Sand!

Great spot along the beach. This is actually on the beach where other VRBO listings aren't exactly true to that description. It is located conveniently to many popular places to visit and eat. The stretch of beach wasn't one of the crowded spots. All appliances worked well and the TVs were very nice. The unit was nicely decorated and clean on arrival. Highly recommend for a couple or a family. We'll be headed back next year.
